A week in Las Vegas, Nevada
We drove to Las Vegas to visit our son, Jason, our daughter-in-law, Katherine, and their three daughters, Ashlyn (almost 9 years, 3rd grade), Ellie (6 years, 1st grade), and Reese (3 years).

It has been cold in Salt Lake City, so we are glad to travel south and warm up. We brought yummy rolls from Lion House and cookies to put in the oven from Deseret Book. It has required another time change (to Pacific); I don't bother looking at the clock anymore. Besides, the kids let us know when it is time to get up and time to eat.

Day 2
Grandma just had to take a picture of Ashlyn playing the piano. It is just not any piano. My parents purchased this 'Story and Clark' and my sister started taking piano lessons at the age of 6 1/2 and I followed in her footsteps a few years later. All three of our kids also practiced at this piano. Now it is at our son's house and fortunately it is getting good use by the next generation. Over the years the piano has moved from Michigan to Virginia, to Lee's Summit, Missouri, to Kansas City, Missouri and now to Las Vegas, Nevada. At some point, the cat picture that my mother had hanging above, has disappeared -- inside joke.
Jason has not forgotten how to mow the lawn. They have made a little oasis of their back yard with green grass and flowering trees. Since this is Las Vegas, rocks are the norm. The size requires only a push mower and it takes him about ten minutes to do the whole thing. But he still leaves 'mohawks'.

Jason came home from work early and we all went to Café Rio for dinner (our favorite place) and then had Family Home Evening.

Day 3
Ashlyn and Ellie head off to school together every morning. Kent leaves for his three-mile walk before it gets hot. And on this day Jason and Katherine are escaping to Palm Springs, California for a few days of rest and relaxation. Grandma and Grandpa are in charge -- or so they think! Our trips to see our grandchildren always include some baby-sitting time. We are armed with keys, lists, schedules, directions, phone numbers and instructions. What could possibly go wrong?
Today, the mailman brought a very special package.
Aunt Lauren, who teaches ballet at Spotlight Studios,
sent the girls their very own t-shirts.
Thank You, Lauren!
During the day when the older girls are in school, grandpa and Reese run errands. Reese has learned that they give out suckers at the bank, there are toys to play with while grandpa gets an oil change and when he gets a hair cut, and they give out stickers at Smith's grocery store. That's where she gets to pick out a starfish donut. Fun!
